Make Good Financial Habits A Priority
In these tough economic times, it is more important than ever to get into good
financial habits. The following tips will help you keep a better eye on your money:
1. Access Your Accounts Daily By
Phone Or Web
We offer Tellie Online and Tellie By Phone as a way to help our members keep
their accounts in order. If you have not used these free services, stop by one of the
branches to set up a Tellie PIN and ask how to get started. If you already use Tellie,
make it a habit to check your accounts daily. Both of these services offer you up-to-the-minute access to what is happening in your accounts.
2. Keep A Transaction Record
Another good financial habit is to keep a register of the account activity for each
of your accounts. Many members check their balance at the ATM to see what is
available before withdrawing their "available" balance. Because ATM balances are
updated throughout the day, these balances run behind and may not reflect all of
the recent activity on the account.
3. Balance Your Registers Monthly
Balancing your account registers when you receive your statements is another good
financial habit. Follow these easy steps:
- Write down the ending balance as shown on your statement at the top of a
piece of paper.
- Add to this balance any deposits in transit that show in your register that have
not yet shown up on your statement.
- Subtract from this new total any checks that have been written, ATM
transactions and any other withdrawals that have not yet cleared your account.
- Add dividends and subtract fees showing on your statement.
- This new balance should match what your account register shows as your
balance. If it does, you are done for another month. If it doesn't, recheck that
all deposits and withdrawals have been accounted for, and that all addition and
subtraction in your register has been done correctly. Keep checking until your
balance in the account register and the balances on your statement agree.
By taking a few minutes each day to check Tellie and a little time each month
to balance your account registers, you will be able to keep better track of
your finances.

Need Extra Cash? We Have The Solution!
With bank bailouts, the government's stimulus package and other economic events in the news,
we want you to know that Greater Cincinnati Credit Union is part of the solution.
We continue to offer loans to those who need them, at rates that you can afford. For instance,
if you need cash fast for college tuition, home repairs or any other reason, a Personal Line Of
Credit (P.L.C.) can be a valuable, affordable tool that meets your needs.
Your P.L.C. can also be a valuable debt consolidation option. Use it to pay off higher interest rate
bills from other financial institutions and start saving every month.
Here's How It Works
With a P.L.C., you enjoy the freedom and flexibility to pay off your bills as you choose. Once you
pay down the balance of your loan, the funds become available to borrow again. It's a convenient,
affordable way to manage your finances. Apply online for your P.L.C. today, or
stop by the Credit Union.

Lower Your Monthly Bills!
Are you tired of having too many loan payments to make every month? By consolidating your high-interest
debt, you'll not only have one easy, affordable monthly payment - you'll be saving money, too!
If you are a homeowner, a Home Equity Loan or a Home Equity Line of Credit are low interest rate
options. The interest you pay on these products may even be tax-deductible, making this one of the
most affordable options available for debt consolidation. (Consult your tax advisor for details.)
You may also consider transferring your current high interest credit card balances to your GCCU
VISA® Credit Card. This option provides you with a low interest rate, no annual fees, and much
more. You could lower your monthly credit card payments instantly!
Keep In Mind
Remember, if you do decide to consolidate your loan payments, you should avoid the temptation to
run up other debts. Focus on paying down your balances before beginning to use credit once again.

It's The Perfect Time To Buy A Car Or A Home
With the signing of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009
into law, there has never been a better time to purchase a new house (for
first-time home buyers) or a new car.
The stimulus law offers a tax deduction for NEW car purchases
(note: purchasing a used car does not qualify for this tax
deduction). Anyone who purchases a new car valued under $49,500
between February 17, 2009 and December 31, 2009 can deduct the value of
the sales tax from this year's taxes.
The same law offers up to an $8,000 tax credit for first-time home
buyers. Since the asking price of homes has decreased significantly in the
past couple of years and it is currently a "buyers' market," this tax credit is
another incentive for people who have not owned a home of their own in
the past three years.
For more information or current loan rates, please stop in one of our
branches, call us at (513) 559-1234.
