Summer Travel Made Easy

Check In Before You Travel
If you have a Greater Cincinnati VISA Credit Card or STAR® Debit Card, please contact us before you travel internationally this summer. The cards will be blocked in certain regions of the world so avoid payment problems by checking in with us before you say "charge it"!

If you need a VISA Credit Card increase, apply online before you leave. Our card has a low, fixed rate so you'll pay less for your purchases and other expenses. Relax and enjoy your vacation!

Whatever your summer vacation plans - a cross-country road trip or day trips closer to home - our VISA® Travel Money Cards can make your travel easy and affordable. These prepaid, reloadable cards offer travelers the security of travelers checks and the convenience of a VISA Card.

They are accepted wherever you see the VISA logo - use them for shopping and dining worldwide, no matter where you travel. You can also get cash (in local currency) at over one million VISA ATMs.

The cards can be reloaded by phone or online. Use money from your Credit Union account to "recharge" your Travel Card.* You'll never have to worry if your card is lost or stolen because it will be replaced without any liability to you.* This protection lets you relax and enjoy your vacation!

*Certain restrictions apply regarding reloading, loss and theft. See Credit Union for complete program details.

Skip-A-Loan Payment This Summer!

You'll enjoy the warm-weather months a lot more with some extra cash in your pocket. Skip-A-Loan payment in July or August (or both) and use the money you save for a summer vacation, a weekend getaway, a home improvement project or any other reason.

Check out our offer online, stop by one of our branches or call us at (513) 559-1234 to sign up. Rest easy and enjoy this relaxing time of year!

Don't Wait - This Offer Ends June 30, 2008!

All requests to skip a payment must be received by June 30, 2008. To be eligible for this special offer, all Credit Union accounts must be in good standing. Loans over $100,000 are not eligible. You will be contacted only if we cannot approve your request. By deferring the summer payment(s), interest will continue to accumulate on the outstanding balance, increasing the total cost of borrowing and extending the term of the loan.

Health Savings Accounts Now Available

A Health Savings Account (HSA) is a tax-favored account, similar to an IRA, owned by an individual in which contributions to the account are used to pay for current and future medical expenses. These funds can be withdrawn to pay for your qualified medical expenses or those of your spouse or dependent without tax penalty.

HSAs are designed to encourage account holders to budget their funds more wisely for their medical care. They were created by Congress to combat rising medical costs by providing an incentive for more consumers to pay "first-dollar" medical expenses.

HSAs can only be used in conjunction with a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). An HDHP is insurance that does not cover first-dollar medical expenses (except for preventive care). It can be an HMO, PPO or indemnity plan, as long as it meets certain requirements.

An HDHP will have a minimum deductible of:

  • $1,100 for self-only coverage
  • $2,200 for family coverage

Annual out-of-pocket expenses (including deductibles and co-pays) cannot exceed:

  • $5,600 for self-only coverage
  • $11,200 for family coverage

These amounts are for 2008 only and are indexed annually for inflation.

Any individual is eligible for an HSA as long as that person:

  • Is covered by an HDHP
  • Is not covered by other health insurance
  • Is not enrolled in Medicare
  • Cannot be claimed as a dependent on someone else's tax return

The Credit Union is offering two types of HSA accounts: certificates of deposit and a no-fee, interest-earning account with a Debit Card.

Please contact the Credit Union for more details!

Take The Headaches
Out Of Overdrafts!

At Greater Cincinnati Credit Union, we discourage overdrafts. We always encourage you to manage your finances responsibly. However, we want to save you from additional merchant fees and the possible negative impact on your credit history that can result from a check being returned. That's why we provide "Member Privilege," an overdraft service for our Credit Union members. There is no additional cost associated with this privilege unless you need to use it.

For more information about this service, call us at (513) 559-0901 or (888) 292-0901. We want to help you prevent "returned-check" fees and preserve your good credit.

Guard Your Identity!

Each year 9 million Americans are victims of identity theft. You may not even know it until you review your credit report or credit card statement - or until you're contacted by a debt collector!

ID thieves take information such as your name, Social Security number, credit card numbers or other financial information - information that's like gold - and use it to open accounts, obtain government documents, get a job or rent a house in your name. They may even use your identity if arrested, causing a warrant to be issued in your name!

If your identity is stolen, you should file a police report, check your credit report, notify creditors and dispute any unauthorized transactions - and do it right away. Monitor financial records for at least a year and arm yourself with knowledge about this increasingly sophisticated crime. For information on prevention, visit www.ftc.gov.
